Dewy Skin Summer Magic Stick

Dewy Skin Summer Magic Stick

It has been so ridiculously hot out in Jersey so far this Summer; temperatures have been in the 90s and super humid for over a week now. Summer is actually my least favorite time of year, heat and I don’t get along. I also get very dark in the sun, but I prefer to have paler skin, so even in the extreme heat I like to cover up my arms with long sleeves. Although I would like to avoid being outside and remain indoors altogether, having two dogs means I must venture into the heat during the daytime. Wrestling two excited dogs leaves me sweaty and my face a bit tanner than I would prefer

Even though I don’t spend much time outside when it is this hot, a 10 minute walk will have sweat beading around my nose and forehead. I don’t like to wear a lot of makeup during the daytime because I know it will get ruined from walking the dogs. Pores enlarge in the heat; the combination of sweat and makeup is a great way to clog your pores and bring on breakouts. I have been searching for the perfect daytime products that are not too heavy but help me look a little more alive, and I think I found one!

I start out with adding some moisturizer to my skin. My current favorite is the Weleda Renewing Day Cream which I wrote about here. Depending on my mood I will add a BB cream. I love the Smashbox Camera Ready Broad Spectrum CC Cream with SPF 30. It is made to correct dark spots, and it gives me that bit of coverage I need around my eyes and corrects pigmentation. Although the brand claims to be cruelty-free they do test on animals when required by law. Mainland China is an example of where cosmetics must be tested on animals before they can legally be sold. This could be a big turn off for some people, but in the USA and most other countries Smashbox does not test on animals. The Smashbox CC Cream is a little on the pricy side at $42.

My absolute favorite BB cream though (don’t hate me for it) is the Maybelline Dream BB Fresh 8 in 1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfecter with SPF 30. This is most definitely not a cruelty free brand. I have not found a BB cream, even a light coverage foundation that works as well as this one. It blurs, brightens, hydrates, evens skin tone, smoothes, has SPF and no oils or heavy ingredients. It really gives me that light coverage I need, is so easy to use and feels great on my skin. Plus its only about $7. If you have any recommendations for other BB creams I should try, please let me know, but I’m not sure they will beat this one.

Now this next product, is AMAZING! I just discovered it last week at Whole Foods, they just started carrying more products from this brand. It is the Cocokind Macabeet Tinted Moisture Stick. Macabeet is USDA organic, cruelty-free, and the ingredients are great. So this is definitely a thumbs up product if you don’t want any chemicals or preservatives and need your products to be cruelty-free.

The Macabeet Tinted Moisture Stick is made for the lips and cheeks. It gives you a very sheer red-ish tint on the lips. It is in no way a lipstick or even a gloss, you might barely notice the color, but you will notice the moisture. It hydrates your lips so well, mine were cracked and chapped and healed within a day of using this product. You can also use it on the cheeks; this is where I noticed a bit more color. I just rubbed a little bit on the apples of my cheeks and then rubbed it into my skin with my fingers. It gave me this dewy, healthy glow with a touch of color. It worked so well over both BB/CC creams, I tried them both on two different days. My skin looked so healthy my sister was questioning what I was using on my skin.

On the cheeks it doesn’t feel sticky, but it’s definitely not a matte powder feel. It feels like you put a serum on your face, but doesn’t look oily or greasy in any way. Macabeet is definitely not going to work for a glam look, or if you want to add a lot of color on your cheeks. It’s perfect if your going to the pool or beach and don’t want to wear makeup but want some color. It’s a great way to look more lively on your “no makeup” days.

On the lips it feels hydrating, not the least bit sticky. The closest product “feel” is the Burt’s Beeswax Lip Balm. This is so great for everyday moisture on the lips, weather it’s before bedtime or before you apply a liquid lipstick. It just feels so good I absolutely love how it transformed my lips from cracked to happy in one day of wearing.

Cocokind is a great organic brand, they add under 5 ingredients into each product so you know exactly what you’re getting. Macabeet has organic olive fruit oil, organic beeswax, organic beet root powder, and organic maca root powder. Another great thing about Cocokind is they try to keep their prices as low as possible for the consumer. The Macabeet stick is only $8.99! But it is also big, if your just using it like a chapstick, the product comes in a great size tube for the money.

There are two more sticks from Cocokind, the Mymatcha All Over Moisture Stick which I am so excited to try and review. I saw on Instagram that after using this product they no longer need concealer under the eyes, so I am dying to try it. They also make the Tumeric Spot Treatment to help color correct any spots on the skin. I bought 2 more products from Cocokind, and so far so good on those two as well, I will definitely write a review on those soon.

If you end up trying Macabeet, let me know what you think! If you’ve already tried the Mymatcha or Tumeric Stick let me know what you thought of those two as well? Do you still need under-eye concealer?

Xoxo,

Serena
